Gathered Voices
Highlights from the Fletcher Trust Collection
Developed in collaboration with the New Zealand Portrait Gallery Te Pūkenga Whakaata in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Fletcher Trust Collection
First version (2022)
2022 marks the 60th anniversary of the Fletcher Trust Collection. Perhaps best known for landscapes and works of abstraction, the collection has long featured important figure-based pictures as well.
Gathered Voices: Highlights from the Fletcher Trust Collection presents a selection of such pictures—pieces of national significance that tell rich and varied stories about this place and those who call it home.
The first version of the show ran from Thursday 15 September to Sunday 11 December 2022 at the New Zealand Portrait Gallery Te Pūkenga Whakaata.
The installation views on this page are by Jess O’Brien. The videos were written and are narrated by curator Francis McWhannell. Videography is by Tim Wagg. Sound is by Ewan Collins.
