Interior with Child shows Michael Smither’s son, Thomas, at play. The artist has said of this work: ‘I had recently seen a newspaper photo of a murdered woman’s car covered in a tarpaulin. I watched Thomas as he played at covering his toy car with a cloth, then use his chewy rag to cover his embarrassment at being caught in a creative act.’[1]
