GREEN, Ayesha

Ayesha Green is based in Tāmaki Makaurau. Her practice explores mātauraka Māori, nation-building, and relationships between Māori, Pākehā, the empire, and indigeneity. She graduated with a Bachelor of Media Arts from Wintec in 2009 and went on to finish a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Auckland’s Elam School of Fine Arts in 2013. In 2016, she completed a Graduate Diploma in Arts specialising in Museums and Cultural Heritage. She was the winner of the National Contemporary Art Awards in 2019, received the inaugural Springboard Award through the Arts Foundation in 2020, and was recipient of the Rydal Art Prize in 2021. She has exhibited throughout Aotearoa, including at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery, Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, the Dowse Art Museum, and Hastings City Art Gallery.
