Lily Aitui Laita was a trailblazing artist and educator. In 1990, she became the first Pacific woman to graduate from the University of Auckland’s Elam School of Fine Arts. She was a founding member of Tautai Pacific Arts Trust and was Head of Art at Western Springs College Ngā Puna o Waiōrea for thirty years.
