Oil on canvas on board
1700 x 1700mm

Although not the largest of the artist’s tondos, this is the most complex of the series produced between 1981 and 1982. This work, like every other in the series, had its origin in a watercolour study. The constructions were all made of plywood sheathed with gessoed canvas. Each separate element was painted then put together to complete the work. As with the other tondos, the amplitude and openness of the circular field is cut into by the wedges in its perimeter.
