DASHPER, Julian;

Untitled (Drumskin)

1995
Vinyl on drum
580 x 580mm

Like Dashper’s Untitled (Yellow Stripes), this work refers to a type of modernist artwork, the target painting. Particularly well-known examples were produced by the American artists Jasper Johns and Kenneth Nolan. A monumental target painting in the Fletcher Trust Collection is Max Gimblett’s Blue/Red – To Len Lye (1980).
