HANLY, Pat;

Garden Awake

1970
Oil and enamel on board
1220 x 1200mm

During the early 1970s, Hanly attempted to evoke the kind of experience of the world induced by the drug LSD using areas of unmodulated colour textured with dribbled paint. Full of light and movement, works such as this are primarily concerned with conveying the feeling of natural energy rather than with depicting details of natural beauty.
